It's Sunday night, and I am just now posting from the weekend. This has been one of those weekends that I never want to experience again. Friday, after work, my husband and I went grocery shopping and came home to settle in front of TV and watch Dear John (he hadn't seen it yet.) Halfway in we get a phone call that my husband's co-worker, who also happens to be a dear friend and father of my husband's best friend, was in a terrible accident along with his wife. Keep in mind my husband is a Sherriff's Deputy, and this man is a father figure to him and someone he works with on a daily basis. So, needless to say, he almost kills us trying to get us to the hospital to find out what is going on. We arrive and the wife has made it in the ambulance. After making sure she is ok (few minor bumps and bruises) we drive like mad men to get to the scene of the accident, where they airlifted our friend. They sent him to Jackson, TN. We race there, they let husband go back for a split second because no blood family had arrived yet, long enough to tell him that they are going to send him to Vanderbilt. We then go from Jackson to Vanderbilt. So, we spent the entire night in the hospital in Vanderbilt with out friends awaitng word. He is in the trauma unit of Vanderbilt University Medical Hospital with 2 broken arms (already had surgery on 1, will have surgery on the other tomorrow) a broken pelvis, broken ribs, and a laceration to his kidney. He is heavily sedated because of the pain, so they had to put in a vent and a feeding tube. We went back this morning, and they decided they will go ahead and take him off the vent and start letting him come to, so the night will be very painful for him. Please everyone keep him in your prayers because he will have a LONG recovery.
Yesterday was the 9th annual Tennessee River Run at Pickwick Landing State Park. I took a 2 hour nap after being up all night and then headed down with my mom. Danny Gokey, Joe Diffee, and Darryl Worley of course put on a concert, but by the time Darryl took stage, my lack of sleep was catching up, and I had to go home. So, the most exciting part of my night was the awsome funnel cake I ate.
How was your weekend?
I hope everyone has a great week!
thats terrible :( and i will pray for joey & heather. it was a bad weekend in savannah... our nephew heath (he just left for the USMC last year... he was in for the weekend from NC) had a bad dirt bike accident in walnut grove... he was air lifted to memphis. shattered both of his ankles (but not as bad as they originally though, no pins or anything, and he's going to be able to walk, praise the lord!). he had surgery on his ankles last night or today (not sure which), and has surgery for his hand next week i think. thats what andy's sister Vanessa told me anyway. :( my cousins MIL was also killed in a car accident yesterday morning. it was a bad, bad weekend for people. :( and bad things always happen in threes, it seems. i'm not sure if heath will be discharged from the USMC or not.. or when they are planning on making him go back to NC. Vanessa said he should get to go home in a couple of days.
